Wisconsin Lutheran College Parking Improvements

Location: City of Wauwatosa
TADI's Role: Parking Improvements

Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) received complaints regarding student use of available on-street parking on neighborhood streets.  In an effort to alleviate on-street parking demands, WLC proposed a private parking structure along Wisconsin Avenue between 87th Street and 89th Street.  The college additionally proposed the vacation of a public street east of the structure for additional parking and a review of an existing surface parking lot west of the structure.  The site is located immediately south of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Campus.

TADI was retained to review the impacts the parking garage would have on the public street system.  Recommended improvements to the street system included a restriping of Wisconsin Avenue with a center turn lane, the closure of two existing driveways west of the proposed garage, and on-street pedestrian and bus enhancements.  Recommended improvements for the parking structure included gate placement and operations for peak demand hours, off-peak hours, and special events.  The parking structure was approved and completed in Year 2016.

The following tasks were performed as part of this project:

  • Data Collection & Analysis
  • Coordination with City of Wauwatosa and WLC
  • Public interaction and meetings
