$3.2 Million for Safety Funding

Location: Village of Whitefish Bay
TADI's Role: TADI worked collaboratively with the village to identify engineering solutions and apply for 90 percent federal funding through the state administered Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

In a review of Whitefish Bay’s crash data, TADI identified specific patterns of pedestrian, bicyclist, right-angle, and run-off-the-road crashes.  TADI worked collaboratively with the village to identify engineering solutions and apply for 90 percent federal funding through the state administered Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).  Improvements included:

  • New Traffic Signals (2 intersections) with Pedestrian Countdown Timers
  • Pedestrian Crossings (2 locations) along Lake Drive, “Danish Offset” Concept
  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (4 locations) on Lake Drive
  • High-Friction-Surface-Treatment at Curves on Lake Drive
  • Dynamic Speed Feedback Signs (several locations)
  • High-Visibility Pedestrian Crosswalks (several locations)
  • Double Stop Signs with Red Reflective Tape on Poles (several locations)
  • Upgraded Street Lighting along Silver Spring Drive
