New Berlin Section 34/35 Planning Study

Location: Extensive TIA/Corridor Study
TADI's Role: City of New Berlin

The City of New Berlin hired Traffic Analysis & Design, Inc. to conduct an extensive TIA/Corridor Study to determine interim and ultimate geometric improvements necessary for the implementation of the communities overall land use plan. The City’s land use plan included the development of approximately 825 acres of land with prime access to I-43 via the Moorland Road (CTH O) corridor located on the south side of New Berlin. Several developers submitted conceptual plans to jump start the overall land use planning. A substantial city park was also included in the overall site plan. Six existing intersections as well as two new proposed access points were evaluated along the four main corridors. Geometric improvements, traffic signal improvements as well as roundabout improvements were analyzed at the study area intersections. A cost analysis was also performed to help determine potential cost sharing for the recommended improvements. The following elements were conducted as part of this project:

  • Data Collection
  • Coordination with the City of New Berlin, WisDOT and Waukesha County
  • Conduct MUTCD Traffic Signal Warrant Analysis
  • Roundabout analysis
  • SYNCHRO modeling
  • Progression Analysis.
  • Access Management/Analysis
  • Public Meetings
