$2.2 Million for Safety Funding

Location: Village of Whitefish Bay  |  Year: 2015 - 2016
TADI's Role: TADI worked collaboratively with the Village to identify engineering solutions and apply for 90 percent Federal funding through the state administered Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

TADI assisted Whitefish Bay in securing over $2.2 million dollars in Federal funding to implement a series of safety improvements throughout their community.

In a review of Whitefish Bay’s crash data, TADI identified specific patterns of pedestrian, bicyclist, right-angle, and run-off-the-road crashes.  TADI worked collaboratively with the Village to identify engineering solutions and apply for 90 percent Federal funding through the state administered Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).  Improvements will be constructed over the next few years and include:

  • New Traffic Signals (2 intersections) with Pedestrian Countdown Timers
  • Pedestrian Crossings (2 locations) along Lake Drive, “Danish Offset” Concept
  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (2 locations) across Lake Drive
  • High-Friction-Surface-Treatment at Curves on Lake Drive
  • Dynamic Speed Feedback Signs (several locations)
  • High-Visibility Pedestrian Crosswalks (several locations)
  • Double Stop Signs with Red Reflective Tape on Poles (several locations)
  • Upgraded Street Lighting along Silver Spring Drive
